Colene Blankinship, CPA, CGMA began her career as a paraprofessional with a small CPA firm In Houston, TX and then later joined a small firm in Humble Texas. In March 1988 she received her CPA license while working for the firm in Humble. In July 1992 she moved to industry working for an oil and gas marketing company. From July 1992 thru November of 2016 Colene worked in various companies as controller. After a brief retirement she began working for DMW & Associates, PC in August 2017.

Colene joined AFWA (formerly ASWA) in 1986. She has served in various positions, including president, on the chapter board. She co-chaired the 1994 Annual Conference and served on the ASWA National Board from July 1, 1996 thru June 30, 1999. She is also a member of AICPA, TXCPA and TXCPA Houston since 1988.

Colene joined the American Legion Auxiliary in 2017 and is a member of San Leon Unit 291 where she has served as secretary from 2017 to July 2022. She is currently serving as treasurer. She served as 9^th District Vice President 2019-2021 and is serving as the 9^th District President through July 2023.
